SHOM :
The French Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service is the official body
which collects and publishes all nautical information. Amongst other
things, it is responsible for drawing up the vital guide to tide times,
which can be found in newsagents, tourist offices and maritime coops.

Slack :
The short period during which the sea remains constant (between the
end of the rising tide and the beginning of the ebbing tide, or vice
versa).
Foreshore:
The part of the shore which is covered and uncovered between the highest
and lowest tides.

Spring tide
:
The tide when there is a full or a new moon, during which the tidal
range is at its maximum.
